Uh-oh, it looks like we have another proof of how harmful online ads can be. There is a new noxious malware that lies in wait for Android users, and spreads via AdSense. Yeah, that ad network by Google.
Specialists of Kaspersky Lab have encountered an alarming virus called Trojan-Banker.AndroidOS.Svpeng.q that is spread with the help of online ads.
Today Facebook announced some truly sad news - the social network will now fight ad blockers.
What are the measures? Well, first of all the tech part itself will be altered, so that ad blockers couldn't detect and remove advertising on the desktop version of Facebook.
And secondly, the social network will update ad preferences tool. This tool shows what data is transferred to advertisers, why do you see specific ads, and it also gives opportunity to hide ads that you are not interested in.
In old good (well, more or less) times, if a victim of cyber attack realised something's wrong, he/she could just call the bank to check if everything's all right and subsequently prevent theft.
But cyber criminals are always evolving. This time they've designed malware to block phone calls to your bank. How? Well, let us tell you, we found a nice article about it.
Update: Article XVI mentioned below is referring to “advertising activities on the internet” and supposed to ban all sorts of “ad injectors”. Although the wording is vague, we hope it will not cover ad blockers as well.
Sad news from China. A total control over Advertising which was announced to be introduced in September actually means total ban of ad blockers.
Well, and again users opinion is quite unanimous, when it comes to advertising. Recently, Netflix users were asked what they think about the introduction of ads. As you see in the title, they are not really happy with such option.
