Protection turns off when I launch another VPN-based app

On Android, it is impossible to run two VPN-based apps at the same time. AdGuard establishes a local VPN to filter traffic, so once you launch another VPN-based app, the AdGuard’s protection will turn off. This most often happens when you use VPNs, antiviruses, or other apps that require access to your device’s traffic.
Unless your device is rooted, there’s no way to run AdGuard simultaneously with those apps. However, if you need a VPN, you can try AdGuard VPN. AdGuard Ad Blocker and AdGuard VPN can work together in Integrated mode, using the same VPN tunnel.
Some VPN services can work as outbound proxies, and in such cases it is possible to run them alongside AdGuard. Check out our manual for setting up an outbound proxy.
If your device is rooted, you can switch AdGuard to the Automatic proxy mode. Go to the Settings tab (right-most icon in the bottom row) → FilteringNetworkRouting mode and select Automatic proxy. Now AdGuard will be able to work alongside another VPN-based app.
