AdGuard Mail update: small tweaks, big convenience
AdGuard Mail is still the youngest member of our product family, and like any little sibling, it gets a lot of attention and care. We want to see it grow and improve! This new update is all about that: small but meaningful tweaks to enhance AdGuard Mail and make your experience with it smoother.
AdGuard Mail is a privacy-focused email management tool, available on all platforms and as a web version. With it, you can create aliases and temporary emails to keep your personal inbox clean and safe. And now AdGuard Mail is even better.
Attachment notifications in Temp Mail
Temporary email is designed for quick, disposable use, so attachments are rarely part of the package. If someone sends an email with an attachment to your temporary address, we will remove the file before it reaches you.
But you should at least know what you’ve missed. Now, you’ll get a notice inside the email informing you that attachments have been removed. You’ll also see the file names and formats, so you know what was sent.
If you’re expecting an important attachment — like a concert ticket or a purchase receipt — we recommend using an alias instead of a temporary email.
Blocked senders activity
Say you created an alias and signed up for a newsletter. At first, it seemed interesting, but after a while you realized they send way too much, too often. What can you do?
One option is to delete the alias altogether. However, you won’t be able to restore it, and anything sent to it after you delete it won’t reach you. Another is to disable the alias. Emails sent to it won’t reach you either, but you can always enable it again. The third option, which we want to highlight in this post, is blocking the sender. This lets you continue receiving emails from others while filtering out the ones you don’t want.
The thing is, when you block a sender, your alias is still on their mailing list, and they keep sending emails — these emails just don’t reach you.
Now, with the new section in Statistics, you can see how many emails blocked senders have attempted to send you. This gives you insight into how much junk would have cluttered your personal inbox. And if you ever change your mind, you can easily unblock a sender if their emails aren’t as overwhelming as you thought.
Smooth email reading
Got a lot of unread emails? Just open one and flip through all your messages without having to close and reopen each one separately. Use the arrows to navigate between emails right from the open email view.
Faster answers
The Support section includes a detailed FAQ with nearly 30 questions covering everything from “Is it free?” to “What should I do if a website won’t accept my alias?”. Scrolling through all of them to find your answer might be a hassle.
To make things easier, you can now search by keyword instead of manually going through the entire list.
No unexpected redirects
The next important improvement is in the web version. Previously, if you tried to access a non-existent link — such as a deleted alias — or just a wrong link, you would be redirected to the main page. What else could the website do in this case?
Well, now it will show you a proper “This page does not exist” screen, so you won’t get confused by silent redirects. You’ll know right away to check the link to make sure it’s correct.
A confident exit
What happens when you click the red close button in your desktop app? Do you exit the app completely? Does it keep running in the background? Does it go to sleep and dream about electric sheep?
Now, when you close AdGuard Mail for the first time, a dialog will pop up, giving you the option to either fully exit the app or keep it running in the background. Your choice will be remembered for future use, but you can always change it in the settings.
This is not a complete list of what’s new in AdGuard Mail — we’ve made some other bug fixes and improvements under the hood to make the product more stable and reliable. We hope you will enjoy the new version. Let us know what you think in our social media.
